The Deck House

Port Huon, Tasmania

A house featuring extensive use of timber and built to exacting standards to achieve the minimal look required.  The deck house was built to allow people to experience quality architecture first hand and focuses on sustainable well considered architecture. It was designed to fully capture the spectacular setting and amazing views over the Huon Valley and Huon River.     The open-plan living and dining area takes full advantage of the view with large bi-folding doors opening up to the front and rear decks. There is also a fully-equipped kitchen and lounge area with TV, DVD player and a fireplace.

The house is also fitted with an underground heating system. The house resulted in a contemporary designed luxury holiday house containing a master bedroom with ensuite, a second queen bedroom and a twin bedroom, with numerous sustainable design elements incorporated subtly into the accommodation.
